HELP NEEDED

We really need more help in the Charity shop. Based in the centre of Brecon, we have an incredible team of volunteers who man the shop Tuesday to Saturday. There are a range of things to do from sorting donations, steaming clothing, pricing and  re-stocking the shop floor. You can even try your hand at 'window dressing' - We would be grateful for any help you can offer, please get in touch or call into the shop to introduce yourself!

Fleet upgrade for
Dial-A-Ride

In a heartwarming boost for community transport, Brecon Dial-A-Ride (DAR) has announced the purchase of two replacement wheelchair-accessible minibuses. This significant upgrade to their fleet has been made possible by a substantial donation from a charitable anonymous donor with links to Brecon, demonstrating a profound commitment to supporting mobility for everyone in the community. As well as the $50,000 donation (approx. £36,500) the purchase was also supported by the Percy Davies Trust, towards a replacement bus to cover the Crickhowell DAR area. A volunteer of the Club made up the shortfall to complete the purchase of these 2 replacement minibuses. The Club has also been able to purchase a further second-hand minibus from the sale of the two old vehicles, donations from members and with welcome support from Brecon Motors. This means the Club will now have a back-up vehicle.

Enhancing Accessibility and Service

The new minibuses have replaced older models in Brecon DAR's fleet, ensuring that the Community Transport Service is not only more reliable but also more comfortable for passengers, many of whom rely on the service for essential trips to medical appointments, shopping, social activities, and more. As with all the minibuses that the Club runs, these newer vehicles are equipped with advanced accessibility features, making it easier for individuals using mobility aids and wheelchairs to embark and disembark safely and conveniently. The upgraded vehicles will also contribute to increased efficiency and reduced maintenance costs, allowing the charity to focus more resources on expanding its reach and services.

Gratitude and Future Prospects

The team at Brecon DAR are extremely grateful for the generous donation, which underscores the importance of community support in maintaining and improving essential services. "This donation couldn’t have come at a better time as we were facing ever increasing repair costs for the oldest 2 vehicles," said a spokesperson from Brecon DAR. "We are extremely thankful to both our anonymous donor and the Percy Davies Trust for their incredible generosity. It will allow us to continue providing vital transport services to those in need within our community."

Looking to the future, Brecon DAR hopes to further extend its service area and continue to advocate for accessibility and inclusion. The organisation encourages others to support their mission, whether through donations, volunteering, or simply spreading the word about the valuable services they provide. A Hole-in-One for Brecon Dial-A-Ride

We are absolutely overwelmed by the generosity of the Cradoc Golf Teams!

A huge, heartfelt thank you to the outgoin Ladies Captain, Diane Davies, who presented Brecon Dial-A-Ride with an incredible cheque for £1672.18

Being chosen as one of Cradoc Golf Clubs charities was such a privilege. This fantastic sum will go a long way in helping us maintain our fleet and ensure that our members can continue to enjoy their journeys across the community.

Thanks to everyone at Cradoc Golf Club for all their hard work in fundraising over the year and for helping us to keep the wheels turning for those who need us most.

Festive Lunch in Crickhowell

Our Crickhowell service held their annual post-Christmas get together at Halo, Crickhowell on 19th January. The meal saw 2 bus loads of regular members, get together in their best frocks for an afternoon of fun and good food.

This social event is held in early January to help the members get through what can be a dull dreary month.

Despite the torrential rain it was a wonderful social occasion, where the members were all able to have a good chat and enjoy a festive lunch in the back room of Halo.

The staff were incredibly attentive, the food was delicious and the perfect size for everyone. We are looking forward to going back for a summer meal. We held a small raffle that has helped us raise much needed funds to keep our service running.

Helen, the Crickhowell Volunteer Co-Ordinator would like to thank the members for their kind donations and the fabulous volunteer drivers who make the kind, friendly atmosphere we are so used to on the Crickhowell Service.

We are looking to book another visit this summer where hopefully we can enjoy their court yard

Christmas Draw

The Christmas Draw was very well supported by service users and members of the community. We had a day of selling in Morrisons, Brecon and it was lovely to have the opportunity to remind the public what we do.

We are hoping this will be a regular fund raiser each year. Thanks to all who supported our efforts.

Afternoon Tea

In August we held an Afternoon Tea for our service users. Members from both the Crickhowell and Brecon joined together at Henderson Hall in  Talybont-on-Usk.

With a raffle, a musical trio to entertain and tables set with lovely linen and fine China tea cups, the afternoon was enjoyed by all and it was great to have a joint event for our members to share.

We look forward to hosting future joint events where the members can get together.

Fair Prices

Satisfying customers is our top priority. That’s why we believe in offering fair and transparent prices with no hidden fees or extra charges.
