New Bus for Brecon Dial a Ride
A New Bus for Brecon Dial a Ride
Brecon Dial-a-Ride have taken delivery of their new wheelchair accessible minibus . This new addition
takes
the local charity’s fleet to 7 vehicles. All are converted to be fully accessible for wheelchair users, together with low steps for easy access. The Award winning local charity is now in its 35th
year and serves the elderly and disabled people of Brecon and its surrounding areas.
The charity has one bus based in Crickhowell, one based inTalgarth, and four based in Brecon serving Brecon and Sennybridge. The seventh bus will replace their Y Reg Renault which will then be sold with the proceeds going towards the purchase of a smaller vehicle that will be used for taking smaller groups of people to events where a minibus as their mode of transport may not be suitable for example funerals, concerts or even weddings. "Elliot the ted" raises £60 for Club funds
" Brecon Dial a Ride have held their most recent "Name The Ted" competition in aid of club funds. The event is run every few months by the charity, with participants paying £1 per ticket for the pleasure of winning a giant teddy bear. The latest competition, run in conjunction with Valentine's Day saw £60 raised for the Brecon scheme and General Manager, Lisa Marsh, told The Brecon & Radnor Express - "Without the tremendous support we receive from the local community, we would be hard pressed in keeping the service on the road. People may think that these small fundraising ideas are a drop in the ocean but every little bit helps so thank you to all who entered"
