Volunteer Week 2025
In June We celebrated the amazing volunteers who keep our service going.
We decorated our charity shop window and, as part of the week we ran a Facebook Campaign highlighting some of the stories of why people volunteer at DAR, these included Crickhowell Volunteer Driver Mark Calvin and Barbara Anglezarke. It was wonderful to hear and we'd like to express our thanks to each and everyone one of them.
"I get far more out of volunteering than I put into it. For anybody thinking about volunteering, I would say there are so many opportunities out there in so many different areas that there is bound to be something that takes your interest. The commitment is as broad and deep as you want it to be from a couple of hours a month to something every day if you want it that way. " Mark Calvin

Membership increase
With a huge rise in costs over the last 5 years, we are having to increase our membership from £12 to £15 from September 1st 2025.
Please be assured that all of these charges go directly into keeping our much loved service running.

Beating the January Blues in Crickhowell
Our Crickhowell service held their annual post-Christmas get together at The Manor Hotel, Crickhowell in early January. The meal saw 2 bus loads of regular members, get together in their best frocks for an afternoon of fun and food. This social event is held in early January to help the members get through what can be a dull dreary month.
It was a lovely social occasion where the members were all able to have a good chat and enjoy a festive lunch in the cosy restaurant. Although the event was not organised as a fundraiser the Hotel discounted our meals and the members made the saving a donation to Dial-a-Ride.
The Crickhowell Volunteer co-ordinator would like to thank the members for their kind donations and the fabulous volunteer drivers who make the kind friendly atmosphere we are so used to on the Crickhowell Service.
Helen Is already looking for next years venue and would be happy to hear from the members about a favourite accessible venue.

Christmas Draw
The Christmas Draw was very well supported by service users and members of the community. We had a day of selling in Morrisons, Brecon and it was lovely to have the opportunity to remind the public what we do.
We are hoping this will be a regular fund raiser each year. Thanks to all who supported our efforts.

Afternoon Tea
In August we held an Afternoon Tea for our service users. Members from both the Crickhowell and Brecon joined together at Henderson Hall in Talybont-on-Usk.
With a raffle, a musical trio to entertain and tables set with lovely linen and fine China tea cups, the afternoon was enjoyed by all and it was great to have a joint event for our members to share.
We look forward to hosting future joint events where the members can get together.

Fair Prices
Satisfying customers is our top priority. That’s why we believe in offering fair and transparent prices with no hidden fees or extra charges.
